Hi,

I am so thrilled to be working with you this year!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. This is my second year at Samo , and I am so thrilled to be back!  Before I taught at Samo I taught general chemistry labs at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) and at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).  Because I love chemistry so much I went back to school and I was awarded my masters degree in chemistry in June of 2014.

As a teacher my overall long-term goal is to facilitate life-long problem solving techniques for my students to prepare them to function effectively in an ever-changing society.  I think that it is very important to have students be able to think critically, to struggle with difficult problems, and to take multiple approaches to solve a problem.  In order to create a well-educated and successful society I believe that people need to have such problem solving skills.  I want my students to have a deeper understanding of chemistry and digitial electronics, but overall I hope for my students to learn techniques in which to approach problems, techniques to solve problems, and ways to think critically.  I want students to leave my class and be able to apply these techniques to not only other classes that they may take, but to difficult life choices.  I hope to be able to facilitate such learning by having critical thinking type problems in my class.  Students learn by struggling through problems, and by working with others to solve these problems.  I believe that lessons that center on problems where students have to think critically allow them to not only learn the material but also to remember the concepts later on because they discovered the answer for themselves.

I am really looking forward to working with you this year as you journey through Chemistry or Digitial Electronics!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Snyder
